Is it possible to create a calendar entry inside of Outlook 2003
whenever an email comes in (I setup a service and PC monitoring software
on one PC that sends me an email when a machine on my lan goes offline
for more than 5 minutes...I'd like to have Outlook create a calendar
entry based upon the email so if I decide to check back, I can see how
often the machines on my LAN were up/down to determine if extra
maintenance is needed to prevent reboots...

Does anyone know a way to do it with a rule? I tried to setup a rule to
move those messages to the CALENDAR folder, and the messages disappear
but do not seem to show up in the calendar.

Or even a third party utility that may give this functionality.

Thanks in advance!

Does it have to be automatic? You can manually drag an email message to the
calendar & it will create a calendar entry for you - not sure how you can
automate this altho it may well be possible.

I would prefer it to be automatic...I know I can do them manually but I
would prefer auto :)

What function are you aiming to use with the created Calendar Item? If you
are looking to list the number of times you receive the 'warning' email from
your PC Tracking system? One possible option is the following.

Once the email is received, from the tracking system, use a rule to move the
email item into a folder (created to contain just these mail items). The
rule could be based upon the subject or the sender etc. If you wish to see
how many times an email has been sent out then look at the mail folder and
see how many times the system has been down.

If you want a specific report from this then we may be able to support you
with an Addin and would be happy to discuss further with no obligation to
you (either reporting on above emails or offering the calendar functionality
that you requested) and provide you with a quotation.
