Create datasource based on form fields

My setup:

I have a sharepoint list, which is based on an Infopath form with
_MANY_ values. The list has just a few pieces of information (that
which is needed for one project).

I have a new form, which I want to have a drop down list of items in
the existing sharepoint lists, and then when an item is selected from
this list, create a data connection to open the XML file and make it
available to pre-populate my new form.

Wow... that was confusing.... ok... let me try that again....


I want to create a new data connection to an XML file based on the
value of a field in the infopath form.

I know very little about infopath (learning more and more), but I
can't seem to find anyone else posting this problem. Does anyone have
any ideas?
