Create header graphic to be seen but not to print

N

Nina Storm

Using the Pilcrow (show/hide) I can put text in my header to be seen but not
to print.

However I cannot manage to do the same to graphic placed in my header.

Is it possible to see header graphic on screen but having it non-printing.

For the text to exhibit that behaviour, you must have the font formatted as
hidden.

To prevent graphics from printing, uncheck the box against Drawing Objects
in the Print Options dialog.

Thank you Doug,

As for the text I can manage, but I cannot make the graphic not printing.

I am on a Mac, and the customer to whom I am doing the template as well.

Do you think it isn't a feautre om the Mac version?

Hi Nina -

Yes, that option is there on the Mac - in 2004 or 2008 it's in Preferences>
Print & can also be accessed through the Print dialog. However - on a Mac or
on a PC - that will prevent all other graphics in the document from printing
as well. As long as that isn't a problem, fine, but if there are other
graphics that *do* have to be printed it may take a little readjusting,
but...

Format the image to In Line with Text, select the *entire paragraph*
containing the image (including the ¶) and format the Font as Hidden...
It'll work the same as it does for the alphanumeric characters.

Thanks Bob - Now I got it.

I'll have to find out managing getting the inline graphic placed where I
want it.

The header cannot have specific right and left margins apart from the rest
of the document - can it?

You can use positive or negative left and right indents on the header
paragraph to create different margins.

Note, however, that you can make even a wrapped graphic nonprinting by
setting the brightness to 100%.

Thank you - now I can manage, I needed the indput from all of you.

"Format the image to In Line with Text, select the *entire paragraph*
containing the image (including the ¶) and format the Font as Hidden...

You can use positive or negative left and right indents on the header
paragraph to create different margins."

Sounds easy when you know :)
