Create invisible hot spots for links

I have a drawing with many links in various areas that open local files
(pictures). I would like to open the links by clicking on invisible 'hot
spots' that cover the different areas of my drawing. Attaching hyperlinks to
rectangles I've postioned over the desired area works well, but if I try to
make the shape transparent (no line, no fill) the hyperlink function doesn't
work. Does anyone have an idea of how I might do this?

set the fill colour to something and set the transparency to 100%
line off
fill - anything other than none
transparency 100%
you can also delete any connection points
menu Format -> Behaviour
and turn off the three Selection Highlighting

that's now given me an area I can't see or appear to select but shows
a hyperlink when the mouses moves over it.

I got this to work perfectly by setting the fill transparency to 99% for the
shapes that cover the area I want to be able to click on. :)

Thanks Paul! I hadn't thought about the connection points and selection
border. Turning them off is the finishing touch that gives me the perfect
effect.
