Create resource view for my projects resources

Hi,
In our organization, project team members can be from a different branch of
the RBS than the project owner (so these resources are not the project
owner's "My Resources"). How can I define a view in Resource Center that
would limit the resources seen to those that are in a project manager's
projects?

Thanks for your help!

Anne Marie:

In order to do that in inside PWA, you would have to restrict the Project
Manager's view of resources to "view only resources in projects that they
manage." However, is this what you really want to do? Your alternative would
be to develop a SQL Reporting Services report or custom view.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for your input. As you suspected, we don't want to restrict the PM's
view of resources to only those assigned to their projects since they may
have to include new resources on future projects.

Could you let me know what you meant by Custom View? Did you mean one
generated through SQL Reporting Services?

Hi Anne Marie,

Instead of restricting the PM's view of resources by modifying the existing
category, you should create a new category called, say, "My Project
Resources" and define it to include the resources that "Are members of a
Project Team on a project owned by the User". Then create the custom view
you want and assign it to this new category. Finally assign this new
category to the Project Manager group.

Hi Gord,

I've tried your suggestion and it works great. Thanks for the tip!
