create walls with precise separation?

While drawing floor plan, how do I create a wall parallel to an existing
wall and is precisely N.NN inch away?
I need a way to enter the distance N.NN.

BTW, I hate asking trivial questions like this. Is there a tutorial that
would cover questions of this nature?

Try Shape > Operations > Offset. Visio adds offsets to both sides, and then
you can delete the one you don't want.
