Create Workgroup file

Hi,

I'm working on a project and have secured it using a workgroup file.

Here are my concerns:-

1). Whenever i open my Access file it should automatically open with
the particular workgroup file and i know that this can be done using a
shortcut but i need something like a code that can be added to the
access file itself.

2). Whenever i link this workgroup file to my Access file it also
affects all the other access files on my system. I don't want this to
happen.

3). I don't want anyone to hack into my file by just creating another
workgroup file and link my file to it.

As you've already discovering, you can only associate a workgroup file with
Access, not with a specific mdb (or mde) file.

Assuming you don't want the same workgroup file associated with all of your
databases, you have no choice but to use a shortcut. What's your concern
about doing that?

If security is set up properly, no one will be able to simply create another
workgroup file and open the database using that workgroup file. If that's
different than your experience, then you likely missed out a step in
security the application. The most common error is forgetting to remove the
Admin user id from the Admins group.

I found Jack MacDonald's security document particularly helpful in
explaining how to join a workgroup for a single session of Access. Some

You have changed the default Access workgroup file to your new mdw file.
Changing it back to System.mdw should avoid the problem of having all Access
files ask for a password. As Douglas pointed out, your only way to use the
secure workgroup file for a particular database is to use a shortcut. The
referenced paper provides details.
