create xls with pivot setup by web application

Jochen Daum

Hi,

First of all, I'm not sure which usenet group this should be posted
in, advice would be good.

I need to create an Excel sheet with a web application, either using a
simple CSV format or the XML web component setup (http://
msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa140066(office.
10).aspx#odc_xmlss_howto)

Next I need to create a certain Pivot table setup based on the data.
Can anyone advise, what options I have for that and point me to
further information. Options I thought of:

- there is some XML to configure that (can't find anything above)

- I have a macro created that can be applied by the user easily. I
would need to offer this macro for download and provide an easy way to
install it. Security is not so much an issue, as the user base using
this is small and has access only with a login

- I have some sort of component developed that does the formatting and
can be installed easily. Any pointers on that?

Would be interested in any recommendations.

Regards, Jochen

Hi Jochen,

You may want to check with the folks in the Excel programming discussion group through the link below and mention the version of
Excel you're going to be working with.
