created 2003 word template, but clients now have 2007 word documen

I am hoping someone has an answer for me. We have created a 2003 template
for our many authors to use, so when we get the document, from all 20+
authors, they all have the same consistencies, etc.... now here's the problem.

One of our clients is now using 2007. So in getting her NEW documents that
she has created in 2007, I am unable to apply my 2003 template to it. My
styles are no where to be found, nothing.

I've tried copying and pasting all 300+ pages into a new word 2003 document
and resaving it and then trying my template, and it doesn't work.

So I dont know how to make the template work for these 2007 users now, and
I'm at a loss.

Half of our clients use 2003, and now the other half use 2007, so I am at a
loss on how to make any of this work. I was going to tell the half that use
2007 to just send me their documents unchanged and we'd just do the extra
work for them, but I can't even figure out how to make it work.

So if anyone has an answer to how to make 2007 documents work in 2003 with
my 2003 template, I'd be ever so grateful!

Thank you in advance!

Have your client save her document as Word 97-2003, in other words as a .doc
rather than a .docx.

We tried that. I can open it in 2003, but when I go to complete the
following steps, that is where it doesn't work. In 2003, I go to Tools,
Templates and Add Ins, and I select my template, and apply it to current
document. All looks well, but then when I go format, styles and formatting,
my styles are no where to be found.

This ONLY happens with this 2007 document, no other documents are affected
this way.

Any ideas for me?

For some reason, the formatting in the 2007 doc over-rides the formatting in
my 2003 template. I cant get the 2 to co-exist.
