created a template using a .mdb in Word

& I've been using it for months now at work & now all of a sudden, it won't
work -- well, it will work, but, I have to go through hoops to get it to
work. Has anyone ever incountered this problem?

Ok, I'm in a Word Template that I created a long time ago. It suddenly
comes up w/a Data Link Properties error & if I click Test Connection, it says
it "failed because of an error in initializing provider. Could not lock
file". & when I go click Ok, it asks me to look for the file & I have to go
looking for the file (even though I thought they were linked together...
sometimes they are & sometimes they aren't... how do I make them link always?
Because on my computer they link right, but on someone elses computer, they
have a problem) & then it asks me if I want to Block Unsafe Expressions.
Does anyone have any helpful info for this problem?

It should retain the link unless there is a problem with the connection
string (the provider) and based on the message you are encountering there
is. Did you add security, such as a db password or create a new workgroup?
Are you using a mapped drive for the db and the other computers have a
different drive mapping? You might try opening the template, removing the
data connection, and then recreating it.

Regarding the "Block Unsafe Expressions" this will appear the first time you
start Access. Here's some more information about this:
