i have microsoft 2007 and i'm trying to create a form that i can save
as a 2003 format. i have no clue how to do this!! i know that i can
enable the developer tab in word to create forms, however that can
only be saved in 2007. i've read that 2003 had a forms toolbar but i
can't figure out where it is in 2007. help please! :)

On the Developer tab, in the Controls group, the fourth button in the second
row is the Legacy Tools button. When you click that, almost the entire
content of the old Forms toolbar is in the dropdown (as well as the contents
of the Control Toolbox).

The one thing that's missing there is the lock icon for protecting and
unprotecting the form. You can add that to the Quick Access Toolbar by
opening the Customize dialog and choosing the category Commands Not In the
Ribbon. The command name in the list is "Lock". Alternatively, the Protect
Document button on the Developer tab (also on the Review tab) has a choice
called Restrict Formatting and Editing that opens the task pane like the one
in Word 2003.
