Creating a custom field using a default value from a lookup table

Through the PWA user interface I can create an enterprise custom field using
the default value of a lookup table. Using the same instance, through PSI if
I try the same I get an error, but only if I try and set the default value. I
am using the LT_STRUCT_UID value of the tree row associated with the lookup
table row. Is this the correct way to set the default value? The returned
soap exception is a general error.
