Creating a custom Report

B

Bill H

I am trying to create a report that shows a specific milestone for multiple projects. In other words - my schedule file is comprised of multiple small projects. However, there are several milestones that are common to all of the projects. What I want is to able to create a report that shows when each milestone (Ex. PDR) is going to occur. The only columns I am interested in having is the Task Name column, start & finish. This seems like it should be easy, but I am getting a lot of columns that I do not want. Also, I do have a filter so that my Gantt view will only display these milestones

Thanks in advance

Bill

Hello

I noticed your posting and thought that a response that I received might help. I was inquiring about selecting columns that I wanted to be displayed in reports. Here was the response that helped me setup my custom report. Hope this helps

In Microsoft Project, Task and Resource reports can be defined as follows

Report = Table + Filter + Report Detail

A Table is defined as a "collection of columns (or fields)." To contro
which columns you see in your custom Reports, you will probably need t
create one or more custom Tables containing the columns you wish to see. A
easy way to create a Table is to do the following

1. Click View - Table - More Table
2. Select a Table that contains some of the columns you wish to see an
then click Cop
3. Give your Table an original nam
4. Remove the columns you don't want to se
5. Add the columns you wish to se
6. Click OK and then click Clos

When you create a new Task or Resource report, simply select one of th
custom Tables you created to see the columns you want. Hope this helps

Hi Bill
I had a similar problem. Not all the folks on my project have access to MS Project. I wanted a way to share info. We do not utilize MS Proj. Server. I wanted to be able to filter by resource and everything that was open. Maybe this will help
Create a filte
Save the filter and give it a name "PDR

Fil
Save as Web Pag
Give the File a nam
Sav
Nex
New Ma
Nex
Select the types of data you want to export----Tasks & Assignment
HTML Options----Export Header Row/Import includes headers--Base export on html template (Select The template you Want
Nex
Destination HTML Table---Name the table with a descriptor "PDR Milestone Report
Export Filter---Choose the filter you created "PDR
From Microsoft Project Field---Select Name, Start, & Finis
Next
Next
Save Ma
Give Your new map a descriptive Name "PDR Milestone Report
Save
Finis

The next time you want to run the report you will only need to do these steps

Give the File a nam

Hope this help

No sweat :) Just thought I'd save you from typing it all over again ;) Thanks again for your help! It was such a simple concept yet I probably wasted 2 days trying to figure it out.
