creating a custom view and exporting that view data to excel

I created a custom table. Then used this custom table to create a view. The view uses "milestones" on the filter
A couple of questions with regard to this view
When I created the custom table I selected the row height to be 1. When I actual view the custom view the row height is
rather large. I tried to make the row height to be less than one but it was not an option. How do I control the row height on a custom view and then save it so it always comes up that way ?
Also know that I have this view, I want to export this specific date to excel. I used the save-as option to save as .xls but
that put my into the wizard and then I do not know how to get it to just use my view as it is
Thank

Chris,
The most likely reason for the change in row height is that the gantt
chart has text above or below the bar or the bar height itself is too
large (check Format/Layout Bar Height).

With regard to export, a particular view is not exported but rather,
fields from Project are mapped to worksheet fields in Excel. When you
select an Excel Workbook as the type of file to Save As, you will see
the "Export Mapping" window appear. Hit "New Map" and give your map a
name. Then select "Tasks", "Resources", and/or "Assignments" and hit the
appropriate tab to set up the field matching map for each. When done,
you will have created a custom export map for your data.

Hope this helps.

Thanks John. I'm still having some problems with the height. The view is of milestones so there are only diamonds on the gnatt chart. I did try shrinking the bar height but this did not help the row size.
I was able to create an export map. However I was not able to get it to match the view exactly. In the view representation, I get the milestones (the filter I'm using) and the summary tasks to appear but in the export map I only
see where to define the columns and filter on milestones. I can't find a way to include the summary names with the
milestone task names so it is organized as in the view representation. Any suggestions ?
Also once I have the map saved how to I access it for editing ?
Thanks again

Chris,
Your original post mentioned that the row height was "rather large" but
is it consistent with the font size you have chosen? Also, is there an
individual field cell in the row that perhaps has a larger font that is
driving the row height (even if that field is hidden). If you think the
font sizes are ok, try this test to determine if it is the tabular data
that is driving the row height or the graphical display. Create a new
single pane view but use a "task sheet" screen instead of a "gantt
chart" screen. The task sheet does not have a graphical display. Use
your custom table. If the row height is "normal" you know the larger row
height is being driven by something in the graphical part of the
display. If the row height is still large, the height is being driven by
the tabular data (i.e. font size). I know this doesn't solve your
problem but it at least gives you a place to concentrate your effort.

With regard to your export map, I don't understand the issue. The
summary names and milestone task names should both be in the Task Name
field (unless you use a spare text field for one of them). The columns
may have to jockeyed around a bit once they are in Excel but otherwise
it should all be there. Can you explain the problem a little more
thoroughly, or if possible, could you e-mail me a sample of your file
(zip it first)?

To edit your export map just go to Save As, select the file type, hit
Save, select your map, and hit Edit.
