Creating a decimal field

I've created a number field as General and 1 decimal point but whenever I
enter a value that is less than 0, it shows 0 vs the actual entry (i.e. 0.5).
How can I solve this?

There is no data type of "general" in Access.

Are you using Access or Excel? If Access, look again and tell us what the
"Data Type" of the field is. If it is set to Number, then tell us what the
"Field Size" is. If it is set to any type of integer, then change it. An
"integer" by definition is a whole number.

First of all, 0.5 is not less than zero. It is less than 1. Second, check
the field size property of your field. Is it set to Long Integer? If so,
change it to Double.

Ah, looks like you were talking about the "Format". Sorry.

Refer to my commenst about type and size. Sounds like you set up an
integer.
