creating a drop down list of information to choose from

I followed the instructions below - I get the validation
area if I am in a new database with no information - but
in the data base I am working in it isn't an option - can
you tell me how to get it as an option in a active data
base? It is a shared data base - does this matter?

This can be done manually but check out Data>Validation...
and the 'list'
option. I think it's what you will need.

According to help (XL2003), you can continue to use data validation in a
shared workbook but cannot change or add it once the workbook is shared
