Creating a general support project

I would like to track the hours my people spend doing general support tasks.
The estimated hours for support is 20% in total. But it is the actual hours
that I am interested in. I would like to publish a project with a variety
of tasks related to different areas of support and ask my people to post
their actual hours on the web interface. At year end I would be better able
to assess everyone's availability for new projects as well as assess which
areas of support require a closer look.

Create a project with tasks typical of the support work your people will
perform. Make each task Fixed Duration and non-effort driven, and set the
Duration for a specific period of time, such as 60 days (about 3 calendar
months). Add your resources to the project team and assign each resource to
the approrpriate tasks so that the Units value totals only 20% for each
resource in the project. Save and publish the project and ask your team
members to submit their Actual Work values on the task assignments. Tell
them to increase the Remaining Work value should it ever show 0 hours. When
the project reaches completion, analyze the results. Hope this helps.
