Creating a MDE file

I posted this question ealier this morning in the security section but no one
has responded. In fact, there has not been any activity all day.

I have a 2000 Database. I converted to 2002-2003. I ran the
compact/repair. I ran the Make MDE. Now my computer just sits, why? How
long does it normally take to create a MDE file? Also, I have noticed while
access it locked up there is also a new file that it create, a db1. why is
it doing this? Is it supposed to be this way?

Before you converted it, did you re-compile it? Did you run Compact &
Repair?

After you converted it, did you again re-compile? ... re-Compact & Repair?
