Creating a new profile

My Outlook crashes everytime I send an email or anytime I try to use an email
address look up. Detect and repair isn't working so I want to try creating a
new profile but want to make sure I don't lose all my old emails. Does
anyone know the step-by-step instructions on how to do this?

Unless you include details of the error and your installation, no one can help
you. Post the exact and complete text of the error. Post your Outlook and
Windows versions. Post your account type and exactly when the crash occurs.
State whether or not it ever worked and what changed on your PC just before it
stopped working, if it had worked before. Examine the Event log to see if
there are events logged that pertain to the crash and post the entries.

You did that.

The error indicates you're using Outlook 2003. I don't see your Windows
version.

I don't see any of the answers for these, either.

Lastly I was dissapointed to see the negative tone in your email. I
appreciate your help but would also appreciate your understanding that I am
not overly computer literate, particularly when it comes to diagnosing
errors. I understand that you handle numerous computer errors daily and I
realize that I missed putting the other topics in my response but there is no
excuse to take that tone with an obviously troubled Windows user.

Do you pay for a Yahoo Plus account? Free yahoo.com (or yahoo.ca) can't be
used with Outook or any POP mail client. Yahoo won't allow it. ISPs like
AT&T and British Telecom contract with Yahoo to host their mail for them and
subscribers to those services get a Yahoo Plus account as a part of that
service.

If you have autoupdates from Microsoft or your antivirus program enabled, then
you DO download something freqently and install it. Sometimes these updates
can affect Outlook.

Right-click My Computer, choose Manage, Expand Event Viewer under System
Tools. Examine the System and Application logs for any references to Outlook.
There may be an Office log also.

What negative tone is that? Where was I pejorative or insulting? How can you
see "tone" in an electronic message? You can't tell anything about my "tone"
unless I insult you.

If you allow WIndows and/or yout antivirus program to autoupdate itself, this
can produce a change that will change a PC's behavior.

Use Find under the View menu to search the System or Application event log for
"outlook" in the Description field.

Outlook related things show up past 2007. Does that matter? Would this
particular error still be in one of the older logs?

Also, I had the Norton anti-virus long before I started having these
problems. Does that mean that a new definition downloaded from Norton could
have fouled this up?

Possibly. Clearly you had your PC's clock set incorrectly at some point.

Sure, particularly with Symantec products, well-known for not behaving well
when used with Outlook.

You don't do anything with the event logs to keep Outlook from crashing. If
Outlook is really crashing, the event logs should give an indication of why.
