Creating a new Site Collection for Projects: PS2007

What is the proper way to create a new site collection to hold project sites.
I would like to be have something like so:

http://myserver/pwa1
http://myserver/pwa2
http://myserver/pwa3

where each site collection holds numerous projects.

Is this even doable?

Yep definitely possible, just follow the procedure you used to create the pwa
site. Instructions are available on the TechNet Project site.

You can do this by provisioning new top PWA sites via SharePoint Central
Administration 3.0 but this will create a whole new set of 4 databases
(Archive, Draft, Pulished, Reporting) each time you create one of these pwa
instances and these environments will be completely independent of each
other.
