Creating a new view in PWA

When creating a new view in PWA (Manage Views), is it possible to create a
custom filter like the one in Project Center>Filter>Custom Filter then you
type your own values in there?

At the moment, when I create my new view you can create a custom filter but
it uses outline codes.

Thanks

Unfortunately, filtering is limited to outline codes in the Project Center.

Actually Gary,

I don't know if you will read this post again but its worth a try. You know
how you said you can only filter using outline codes when creating a new
view, would you be able to filter the values that i want using outline codes
when creating a new view? If so, how?

Thanks

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the issue but you can filter on anything as long
as it's a selected field within the view. For instance, if your view has %
Complete, you can set the filter in the View definition to only select
projects or tasks that are less than 100%. When a user accesses that view,
they can change or add to the filtering (i.e < 100% AND Department =
Marketing).

RickD,

Thank you for the response. You are right, you are able to do a custom
filter in Project Center, Options, Filter, then typing in the values you want.

I want to be able to create a new view and apply a filter in that view so
everytime you open the new view, it will have already filtered the values I
want without having to click around in the Project Center view. Hope that
makes sense. Do you have any ways to go around it?

You can predefine the view with the filter. There is a limitation on the
number of variables though. If you need more, or regardless of whether it is
pre-defined, you can set up the filter you want within a user session and
then "Save Link". This will provide a mechanism for a custom view that always
applies the requested filter. This technique obviously becomes an educational
issue because you have to inform all your users how to customize a view and
how to save the link. This is not a bad thing however. Users should know how
to do that anyway to gain the most beneft from MPS/PWA.

Thanks Again!
