creating a non printing watermark

is it possible to have a non printing watermark in Word2004 for Mac?
i have been trying for several hours now, to no avail. So far, the
only way I see it possible, is to have Drawing Objects unchecked in
the preferences menu, which wont work.

Anyone have a clue?

A manual watermark that used a text box could have text inside it
formatted as Hidden. Almost no one has hidden text set to print. But
most people don't have hidden text set to view, either, so that it might
just be that no one saw your watermark at all, with that method.

Why don't you want it to print? Why have it at all, in that case?

Or you could make the letters pale yellow -- they would show on the screen
but in black-and-white printing would not show up.

You're going to tell me you want to print in colour ... :)

* SUGGESTION -- KEEP REVISITING AFTER YOU POST: If you post a question, keep
re-visiting the newsgroup for several days after the first response comes
in. Sometimes it takes a few responses before the best or complete solution
is provided; sometimes you'll be asked for further information. Good tips
about getting the best out of posting are at

blank page and have to hit the circular arrow icon -- "Reload the current
page" -- two or more times).

Hi Billy:

I need to ask you what you want to use this for! I am not sure that
"watermark" is what you want.

By definition, a watermark prints. As Daiya says, you can set the watermark
to "Hidden" font, but if you do, it may not display either.

Comments do not print (that's what they're for...)

Cheers
