creating a pageless scroll

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel I want to create a very, very long page with no breaks. I created a custom document 1,000 cm long, but still I get dotted (........) page breaks at intervals long in advance of 1,000 cm. How do I create an extremely long page with no visual breaks? (This is not for printing, just for reading on screen.)

Word is a program designed to create documents which imply pages,
printers, etc. That's the way it is.

Why don't you cointineu create your work in Word ... then save as HTML
file and use a browser to read the document. The browser will not
paginate the work. (It also is probably easier to read than using Word).

You might consider using a Text Editor rather than a word processing
program. As Rob suggests, word processors are primarily designed for
producing printed output, and there's no such thing as a 'never ending'
sheet of paper. Word in particular has a maximum paper size of 22"x22", so
page breaks still would be imposed based on that maximum even if there was
such a thing as [and you had a printer capable of handling] 400" tall sheets
of paper.

What you're describing is more comparable to a web page, and Mac Word is a
rather poor choice for that purpose. If you try to do it with Word in Web
Layout View you can avoid the page length constraint but you also lose the
page width constraint as well -- the document will reflow based on the width
of each individual viewer's window as well as other variables. You'd need to
take all those considerations into account in order to structure the
document as a web page in order to control the flow.

Fully agree using a Text Editor much better for this than Word (esp. an
editor that has tools to help the writer. I often use Word instead of a
text editor for things like this just to get the features of Word which
help the writing).
