Creating a .PPA to load custom macros?

P

pwc

Right now my macros are contained in a locked .ppt file that is
included as part of my standardized build to all Macs. Users can open
this .ppt and create a new toolbar, then drag the macro commands to
that toolbar. After this they can open existing .ppt files or create
new ones and use those macros.

Is there a way to load macros from a .ppa file instead? How can .ppa
files be created on a Mac?

Office 2004 11.3.0 running on OS X 10.4.7 / 10.4.8, mostly G5s. TIA.

Hi Pete,

The only difference between a PPA and PPT file is that if you double-click
the PPA file icon in Finder it tells PowerPoint to open the presentation
running in PowerPoint Show mode.

Are you trying to get a macro to run when the presentation file is opened?
If so, you need to have the macro that runs when opened named Auto_Open()
and then save the presentation as an add-in (File > Save As and choose the
file type Add-In) which creates a PPA file.

PPA files can be added to the Add-Ins list on the Tools menu. In that case,
whenever PowerPoint itself is opened then the add-in runs is available to
users. PPA files can be activated using File > Open and double-clicking them
as well.

I hope I guessed right about what you're trying to accomplish.

Correction:

This sentence should have said PPS (PowerPoint Show) instead of PPA
(PowerPoint Add-In).

The corrected wording is:

The only difference between a PPS and PPT file is that if you double-click
the PPS file icon in Finder it tells PowerPoint to open the presentation
running in PowerPoint Show mode.

My apologies for not noticing this before posting.

Sure. Using PPA files on the Mac is pretty much the same as using them on
Windows. The info here is Win-centric but most if not all of it will apply to
Mac as well:
