Creating a Secure Search

I am new to Project Server and I want to limit the access of some of
the people in my compay other peoples projects. What I have done to
allow myself to be able to search projects easier is in the company
field under Project, in File - Properties - Custom, I have placed each
of my companies departments. This allows me to sort by department for
in the Project Center of Server. What I want to do now is allow other
people in my company to see this structure as well but only for there
department. So is there a way to link the Company field in the Project
Center to user permissions?

I think your approach will not work well in Project Server. If you wish to
build some type or organizational structure for your projects, you should
create a custom enterprise Project outline code field for this purpose in
the Enterprise Global file, and then specify a value for that field in every
project. If you wish to control access to projects in Project Server, you
need to do this through the use of Groups and Categories. In general terms,
Categories control what users can see and Groups control what users can do
in Project Server.

Because you are a "newbie" to Project Server, refer to the following FAQ for
a list of books and training opportunities on this subject:

Hope this helps.
