Creating a sub site for password protection

I have set up a subsite folder to try to set a password protection. When I go
to Tools/Server/Administration Home . . .I get an error message saying "A
world wide web browser such as microsoft explorier, is required to use this
feature." I believe exployer is my default browser? How can I get past this?

Unfortunately that menu option doesn't work for me, it's grayed out. I
know that when I want to setup a secure area like what you're talking
about I have to work with my hosting company to do it. I haven't found
a way to make FrontPage work for me like that - I've tried code that
does this also, but it's not all that secure. Server side - NTFS, or
the Unix equivalent - is the best way to do this. Most hosting
companies should be able to help - maybe someone else will have more
information. Hope that helps at least a little.

When you want to password protect a subweb folder (I just did it
today) you must open the web "live" in FrontPage before the security
option is available. You can't do it from the file is on your
computer. And of course, you can't even do that unless the Microsoft
FrontPage server extensions are installed on your host server, and you
have been using HTTP to publish, not FTP. Lessons learned the hard
way.

....and, the host must allow it. Some don't, so it may still be greyed out.
