Creating a Table of Contents with Change Pages

J

Jana

I am creating change pages to a document. I section off the "page" I want to
change with page breaks. I want that subsection of pages to be numbered as
#.1, #.2, etc. For example, if the page was page 35 in the original, my
change pages would be 35.1, 35.2, etc. I also want these revised page
numbers to show up in the TOC. I have tried everything under the sun
including creating TC fields on all the changed pages but it makes the TOC
look terrible.

This works if you apply chapter/page numbering (see
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/numbering/chapternumber.htm), but that won't do
exactly what you want.

A different approach, which requires quite a lot of work, is to make use of
SEQ fields; see the "Adding chapter numbering" section of the article at
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/TOCTips.htm. You may have to get creative
in order for this to work, and you may not find it worth the effort.

For what it's worth, using comments to indicate changes in the text would be
far easier.
