How can I create an accent sign above an "a"

Standard Mac method is opt-e a for á and opt-` a for à and ohh.. look
at the keyboard viewer for all the other dead key combos for getting
accents.
Keyboard viewer? System Prefs -> International -> Input Menu
Select it inthe top panel. Down the bottiom, check "Show input menu in
menu bar"
(I'm glad I answered that. I discovered that Tiger has a new cute
keyboard viewer.)

It is cute but not new in Tiger. m.

OK I phrased that poorly. The Tiger one is cuter than the old one.
It now mimics my Powerbook keyboard perfectly, with Al keys and
highlights the dead keys in highlight colour.

And as soon as I typed 'colour' its tiny little menu bar changed to
"Keyboard Viewer (British)"
Quite so, Dear boy! (It might have been there before, but it is off
having a cup of tea now)
