If you mean prog files this will only go so far. Updates also involve
system DLL changes, registry changes and so on. Then, to make matters
worse, Word shares the same dir as the other main Office apps.
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office
For the paranoid, one can back up this dir for a certain amount of
safety.
