Creating Calendars in One Note

I am new to one note and would like to create monthly calendars, just like
the template shows in office online. How is this accomplished?

There are many templates that can do this. If the one template you saw
didn't meet your needs, there should be many others.

You can use Templates. There are quite some available for download in
OneNote section of the Office site of MS.

Added: All the template do not create *active* calendars. There are just
made for tying in data.
If you want to have calendar functionality, you'd need Outlook.
