Creating Custom Calendars

Mike Gallery

I have a client who wants to create custom calendars. This is for
church.

For instance, he may want a Calendar of items that pertain to th
Education department. He might then want to print out all items in th
calendar that are "Youth Education" and "Weekly". In order for this t
work he would need to be able to add identifying fields to the items
For instance, if he created a new item in the Education Calendar h
might want to check off that it IS a "Youth Education" item, it IS
"Weekly" item, it is NOT a "Grades 1-3" item, it IS a "Grades 4-6" item
etc.

Does anyone know of a program that allows for the generation and outpu
of calendars based on the inclusion or exclusion of multiple fields tha
are associated with specific items? Output should be both to a web pag
and/or to hard copies. I remember that Outlook 2000 used to print ou
web based calendars. Does that ability still exist with Outlook 2003 an
2007?

Thanks for any tips or help regarding this difficult inquiry.

Can be done entirely inside Outlook with categories. You'd make a custom
view to only include appointments matching specific categories.

Create an appointment and categorize it.
Now go to View -> Customize current view -> Filter -> More Choices and
click the "Categories" button.

Outlook does save as HTML. File -> Save as web page.

Hi, Leonid.

Thank you for this excellent suggestion. It works very nicely. I jus
have one problem. When I create a Category, say, "Youth Ed", and filte
out all events except Youth Ed the calendar will print to my printer o
to a .pdf with only "Youth Ed" items showing. However, if I "Save as We
Page" all events, including non-Youth Ed items, show up.
Do you have a workaround for this?

Your answer was most helpful!

So "File -> Save as web page" is not aware of filtered views. I never
use it, so I never tested this use case.

Check on http://www.slipstick.com/calendar/olpubcal.asp#tools if there
is perhaps an add-on for generating calendars from filtered views.

I know one thing that would probably work. Integration with an online
calendar, such as Sharepoint from Microsoft or Google Calendar from
Google. However, that is probably more complex than a simple export from
a views-aware add-in.
