I am trying to track system storage capacity for our plant's maintenance
schedule. Each piece of equipment has a fixed capacity and taking this
equipment offline results in a corresponding loss of storage capacity. I am
trying to track the capacity against our maintenance schedule to ensure that
we stay above a critical capacity. Two main questions:
1. What is the easiest way to do this? I tried setting up a custom resource
based on the equipment capacity (a task attribute). This is labor intensive
since I cannot seem to import a task attribute into the resource fields. (For
over 200 pieces of equipment.) Can I use task attributes to calculate custom
resources or do I need to set up the equipment capacity as a resource?
2. MSP allocates the capacity over the duration. This is not correct, since
I am interested only in the capacity offline at any given time. For instance,
if we have three vessels offline this results in a reduction of storage
capacity for the entire duration, not a flat allocation over the entire
duration. Can I turn this setting off or set up my resource in such a way
that it doesn't allocate. I tried multiplying my capacity vs. the duration,
but this only works when the timescale units on the resource graph match the
duration units in my formula.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
