Creating dashed lines around a table

B

Bosley

Hello
I would like to put dashed lines around a table (horizontal dashes on the
horizontal lines, vertical dashes on the vertical lines). I read the great
thread about the coupon border art (exactly the look that I am after!) with
the auto shapes, but unfortunately I can't use the border art on the table.
Can you suggest how to do what I am after in the table format? I cant seem to
get it to work! I would rather not do multiple auto shapes with the coupon
border because I don't want multiple scissors, and I am pretty hopeless at
getting things to line up!!!
Thanks!!!

Something to try...

Left click the Line button on your Objects toolbar.

Now...left click / drag a line approximately the
length you need. You can adjust the length by
dragging the end handle.

You can right click/copy the line and paste as
many instances as you need.

These lines can be rotated by dragging the end
handle and they can be nudged into position by
selecting one of them and use your arrow keys
to position it.

With a line selected...left click the Line/Border
Style button on your Formatting toolbar...choose...
More Lines...open the Dashed drop window
and choose the style you like.

Position these lines around your table and that
should do it.

Just format the autoshape borders to dashed...then surround your table with
it.
What doesn't work when you try?

Hi John, Thanks so much for the suggestion. Originally, I was trying to do
it by changing the format on the table, but the dashed lines all go the same
way. I was trying to make each of the cells dashed too, so I combined your
idea with the one below. Thanks again for your help.

Thank you so much for your help John! I would never have though to use the
lines, and would have kept going round in circles with the table settings.
Works a treat!

Thanks so much for your help John! I would never have thought of using the
lines, and would have kept going around in circles trying to format the
table. Thanks again!
