Creating Enterprise Resources without creating User Accounts

Hello,

We use Project Server 2003. Whenever we create enterprise resources, the
user accounts get created by default. How do we create enterprise resources
without automatically creating user accounts? By the way, these are not
generic resources.

Second, how do we delete the user accounts without removing the
corresponding active resources?

Thanks,
seth

You can't and you can't. Why in the world do you want to create enterprise
resources without corresponding PWA user accounts? How do you expect these
enterprise resources to access PWA without user accounts?

Dale,

Thanks for your response. Quite a few of our resources are in remote
locations that do not have access to PWA anyway. The project manager updates
the Project Server on behalf of them. So there is no need for user accounts
for these resources.

Thanks,

I actually have the inverse problem. When I create user accounts in PWA they
are not creating an account in the enterprise resource pool. Therefore,
managers are unable to assign the new users to their respective project plans.

Any help would be appreciated

You are doing it backwards. You should always begin with creating resources
in the Enterprise Resource Pool. Hope this helps.

The user accounts don't cause any harm. They do increase your "calculated"
license count in Project Server, however they don't obligate you to buy
licenses unless resources are actually loggin on. Does that make this sound
a little better?
