The "save as eps" from Acrobat is usually beyond reproach. Very, very good!
But it can only work with what it has. Garbage in, garbage out. Which, in
this case, means the settings used to (a) create the PostScript file and (b)
the settings used to make the PDF.
Unfortunately, Acrobat's default setting is to NOT include the fonts That's
like asking Joanne Paules to act like she's not a beautiful human being. The
wrong thing to do!
OK, how to fix (assuming yoiu do have Distiller, which costs $. Others may
talk about "free-sort-of-pdf" downloads, but this is prepress where screwing
up costs real money not a bad download of some stolen movie clip or CD
track. You do it right or don't bother (that's mu motto<G>)
I assume you are using a Print-to-PDF that installs itself with distiller.
If you are not using Distiller, you can ignore the rest of the message and
find some other way to fix your problem. First, go to Settings>printers and
faxes>select Acrobat Distiller as the printer (might be a different name
with your version). with it selected, RMB (Right Mouse Button) and go to
properties (at the bottom of the fly-out). Then Advanced tab. Then Printing
Defaults button (at bottom). Then Adobe PDF settings tab. Then you are ready
to (1) Uncheck thebox labeled "Do not send fonts to Distiller" and (2) go to
the top of the dialog to "conversion settings" and set it to "print"
OK your way out.
Then reprint your file...BUT toCYA (and I'l bet it will be needed until at
least a reboot) when you do go to print select that printer and go to its
properties and make sure the settings I just described are active.
Then you ought to be golden. (Unless there's a setting problem within
Distiller itself. If it still does ino work, post back and we can look into
that issue.)
Or your can send it to me (contact mac and adcomgraphics dot com for
instructions) and I can do it for you at a reasonable price)
