Creating exclusion dictionaries for Word OSX

E

Edward Lipsett

There is a handy page here
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/ExcludeWordFromDic.htm
that describes how to do this for various Windows Word versions, but the
file format and naming details are rather unclear for the newest versions of
Word/Office under OSX.

Can anyone provide the missing information, or point me to a page?

Thanks for your time

Hello Edward,

Regrettably, this feature is broken on the Mac versions of Word (or has been
since Word 2001). It has been reported to Microsoft (a *very* long time
ago) and nothing has happened as far as I know. A great pity; it's a
powerful feature.

Cheers,

* SUGGESTION -- KEEP REVISITING AFTER YOU POST: If you post a question, keep
re-visiting the newsgroup for several days after the first response comes
in. Sometimes it takes a few responses before the best or complete solution
is provided. Good tips about getting the best out of posting are at
http://word.mvps.org/Mac/AccessNewsgroups.html and
http://word.mvps.org/FindHelp/Posting.htm (if you use Safari you may see a
blank page and have to hit the circular arrow icon -- "Reload the current
page" -- two or more times).

Thanks, Clive. I saw the WORD.MVPS note that it was broken in an earlier
edition, but hoped that MS had finally gotten around to fixing it in OSX.
Considering how much of the same code is used in all Office products, it
shouldn't be that difficult...

Couldn't agree more, Edward.
