Hi Bill (Mvp), sorry to post a response like this (as a new question), but the reply link wasn't working ??? Thanks for your help, I did what you recommended which works fine for linking to URLs, however I am trying to link to documents on a secure shared server. When using PCs it's really easy, type in the document name highlight right click and hyperlink to the document. I'm using Macs here though and can't seem to find a way to do this, do you have any info on this? kind regards, tameiko

I am trying to link to documents on a secure shared server.

Here is info Bill posted not long ago.

If you enter a true UNC path such as:

\\server\share\folder\folder

then most Windows E-mail clients will probably recognize it as such and
create the hyperlink. It's not a recognizable hyperlink in the Mac
world, so it won't be clickable on a Mac. I suggest you compose your
messages in both HTML and plain text to verify which works best in your
environment.

Paths aren't *always* translatable from one to another and not all path
styles are recognized on all platforms.

A Mac AFP path looks like:

afp://server.domain.com/share

An Mac SMB path looks like:

smb://server.domain.com/share

A Windows UNC path looks like:

\\server.domain.com\share

Use these as guides for creating the appropriate paths for your recipients.

In addition, you might find this useful

Hope this helps!
