creating icons

Does anyone know if it is possible to use any of the MS
Office programs to convert a file type to make it into an
icon? That is - change a '.gif' (or .bmp etc.) into

Not that I know of. Photoed won't and neither will Paint. However you can
use either of those programs to convert a picture into BMP format after
which you can use a little freeware program called BMP2ICO2 to convert that
to an icon. It's readily available on the net. Try doing a Google search.

One caution: The picture must be in 32x32 or 48x42 pixel BMP format for this
program to work.

Check out IrfanView @ www.irfanview.com It's one of the best gerneral
utility graphics programs I've run into. It views/converts almost any
type of graphic (including icons)...and it's FREE!
