creating letterhead template by 'watermark' feature?

Hello,

In trying to create a letterhead template using the 'watermark'
feature to import the background image (containing the letterhead's
graphics, of course), I can't seem to figure out how to get Word to
NOT 'wash out' the graphics. There is an actual 'washout' checkbox
there, and if you check it, it will indeed wash the graphics out quite
a bit, but even unchecked, it washes them out some. Is there a way to
get it to not wash them out at all??

Any help would be appreciated!

If you remove the "washout" formatting, the letterhead will not print washed
out but will appear dimmed when the insertion point is in the document body.
If you View | Header and Footer, you'll see the graphic in full color and
the document text will be dimmed.
