1. Your process is incorrect. To create an enterprise project template,
launch Project Professional 2007 and connect to Project Server. Create the
project template as desired, with tasks, dependencies, Milestones, and
Durations as needed. Then click File - Save. In the Save to Project Server
dialog, click the Type pick list and choose the Template option. Enter a
name for the enterprise project template and then click the Save button.
Alternately, if you have a pre-existing template, save as an MPP file or an
MPT file, and it is ready for use with Project Server 2007, you can use the
Import Project Wizard (Tools - Enterprise Options - Import Project to
Enterprise) to import it. As you work through the Wizard, the final dialog
will be the Save to Project Server dialog, and again, you must click the
Type pick list and choose the Template option.

2. Yes, you can have multiple enterprise project templates, each of which
is targeted for use by different departments. Each template can continue
unique Views, Tables, Filters, and Groups. On the other hand, each template
cannot have its own unique calendars since by default, Project Server 2007
does not allow local calendars in enterprise projects. Furthermore, each
template cannot have its own unique custom fields, since custom enterprise
fields are available to all projects.

Hope this helps.

Dale,

I have the MSFt books that come with Project server 2003 product e.g the
installation guide,PMs guide etc. I am more interested in a book which will
help in solving day to day issue & which will give me step by step
implementation, configuration & troubleshooting guidelines. I saw your site
but couln't decide which one is the best suited for me. Can you suggest one?
Also,can i purchase from India ?

We are in the process of rolling out MS project server (now using 2003 but
plan to shift to 2007 in the near future ) in our organisation. I have
created the basic stuffs but facing a lot of issues with daily problems faced
by the different types of users.& these are really time consuming as i have
to go through the guides first & then look out in the forums. A good book
with all practical scenarios & suggestions woule be a tremendous help.

Thanks,Ratnadeep

I would recommend that you purchase our Implementing and Administering
Microsoft Office Project Server 2007 for your Project Server administrator.
This book will serve as a valuable reference guide to setting up,
configuring, and troubleshooting the software. I would also recommend that
you purchase a copy of our Managing Enterprise Projects using Microsoft
Office Project Server 2007 book for your project managers. This book will
tell them how to effectively use the software from the project manager's
perspective, and from the team member's perspective as well.

Yes, I do believe we ship to India. You will need to contact our office in
NYC directly to get the details. Hope this helps.
