Creating Org charts for large organizations

Our gov't organization is implementing SAP/R3 and are using the HR
module. We want to create organizational charts using Visio. This works
fine, however, for our large departments, such as the fire dept. that
has over 50 FireFighters, each position is listed in a separate box. Is
there a automated or with code a way in Visio to allow us to view
multiple positions in a single box i.e. Under the Fire Chief we have 50
fire fighter and 20 paramedics.
We have to send the org charts out to the departments and we don't care
who the people are in each position, we just want to account for the
positions under each dept. head.

Any ideas?

I think you can change what fields are displayed under the OrgChart menu.
OrgChart > Options > Fields Tab. Just turn off "Names" and you'll just see
the titles.

You can regenerate the org-charts from Excel data or from a database as
well.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply. I tried what you suggested and I still have the
same issue--multiple boxes for each individual position. I would like
to be able to view all the positions under a certain manager in one
box, i.e. Fire Chief has 50 FireFighters(one box) and 20 paramedics(one
box) that report to him. Today if we want to view like this it is a
manual task. please help...

This is probably more of an Excel issue - can you build some sort of filter
for your excel data that results in a new sheet that counts the unique
positions?

Other than that, you'd need to write some code that took only one position
per job-title and added a field for the count.

I believe that you can probably do something via Excel, but don't know off
the top of my head what the functions are.
