Creating personalized Macro Icons

Is there a way to change the symbol for a macro other than the symbols
located in the Modify Button dialog box that comes up when selecting Modify
under Word Options and Customize tab? I would like to be able to create a
text symbol that I could type one word reference so it would be easier to
know which macro I'm clicking without having to remember which picture symbol
is assigned. I am aware that if I hoover over the symbol it shows the name
but would like to be able to see the text at all times.

There is a way, although Microsoft has made it unnecessarily complex. See

Is this a macro that you've added to a toolbar? If so, and if using Word
2003, when you are in customize, select Edit button image - you can sort of
use text there or you can select Text Only [Always]
