Creating PPT backgrounds

Really just curious about what program you would consider as best to use
when creating a background for a PPT presentation the would be presented in
large screen format - small to mid-size conference room. Wondering if what
looks good on a desk top monitor will still look good on a projector screen.

Use the program you know best. Depending on the design you want, everything
is possible, PowerPoint as well as PhotoShop or other image editing
programs. Projectors and TV-screens usually have a lower screen resolution
than computer monitors, so the quality you use on your desktop is sufficient
for the conference room.

More or less ! - Projectors have improved vastly from days of old.

Just remember to keep plenty of contrast between your background and the
content.

If you go 'light' for the background, go dark for the text.
