Creating Pre-defined Task's in Project

L

LarryH

Hello -
Please can someone help me understand how to do this. I am trying to create
the following with Web Project 2003 and Sharepoint. I would like to create
pre-defined "Tasks" that my PM's can select from when creating their projects
in Project. These Tasks will have certain pre-defined characteristics
associated to them. One primary characteristic is a link to a
Word/Excel/PPT/PDF/etc template or document. Thus when the PM attaches the
"Task" to a project, the associated document('s) automatically comes across.
This "Task" will then be tied to that
PM's or Resource's Outlook Calendar with an alarmed scheduled event.

Thanks in advance,

Larry.

Larry:

This is not something you can do out-of-the-box. You can build this
functionality using the Project Guide as a vehicle. Without coding, you can
build project templates that contain more data than they need and have your
PMs remove unwanted tasks. And, you can alter your SharePoint base template
so that it provisions sites with docment libraries and documents predefined.

I am running into a similar roadblock -- I would like to prepopulate the
SharePoint sites spawned by Project Server with a custom list, two custom
meeting workspaces, an extra document library, and a post mortem survey.
Saving a site as a template does not make it available in site provisioning -
as there is still only one entry available - Project Workspace. In order to
create additional templates, do I need to get into the Central administration
on the SharePoint server?

thx - jl

Thank you very much - that's exactly what I needed. (One of those situations
where the documentation suggests that something is possible, but you can't
find the instructions to make it happen)

Thanks again, jl
