Creating Project Analyzer Views

M

Mark Etheridge

Hello,

I have 'successfully' created a project analyzer OLAP cube. The
administrator actually saw it in the "Analysis Services".

I now try to create a "Project Analyzer" custom view when going to "Manage
Views". But it tells me that "Testcube" (the cube name I created) does not
exist. What seems to be the problem, since the cube creation was
successful?? Is there something else I need to do inorder to create custom
view using Project Analzyer?

Hi Mark,

I had exactly the same problem. In addition to creating the cube, the
admin needs to give you the access rights to the cube, too. (It is a bit
confusing, that you are allowed to create the cube but not use it in the
analyser later.

Access rights to the cube are also set in the "Analysis Services". You
need to select the "Analysis Manager", find your cube "Testcube" in the
database. There you can assign certain roles to the users. The role you
should have assigned to you is "Portfolio Manager". If that worked out,
you should be able to create views in the "Portfolio Analyzer".

I didn't do that myself, since I don't have access to the server itself,
so the above description is hopefully close approximation to how it
works. I just extrapolated from what I read elsewhere.

Happy analyzing,

Riko
