Creating project task in BCM 2007

I am trying to create a project task. When I try to save & close that window
I get a message that says " A custom field with this name but has a different
data type already exists. Enter a different name." What does this mean? It
won't let me close the window & save the task. The only way to close it ts to
delete the new task.

Don:

I would first go into Business Contact Manager (from the main menu),
Customize Forms, Manage User Defined Fields, Business Project. On the Page
dropdown in the upper left, go through each form and see if there are any
fields you've added. My theory is that since you can't add fields to a
project task, maybe there's a conflict with a custom field you added to the
Project record. Just a theory, but that's where I'd start to look...

Hope that helps,
Lon

Lon,
Thanks for the help.
I'm not sure why this worked but it did. Let me give you some background in
case it helps you understand what happened.
I Installed a new downloaded copy of Office Pro 07 w/BCM. I never did any
changes to the fields, or anything else for that matter. When I followed your
instructions there were no user defined fields (as I expected since I had not
changed anything from the new installation at that point). I exited out of
that window & it asked if I wanted to save any changes. I did, even though I
had not made any and the user defined fields was blank. Then I went back to
the create project tasks window & tried it again. It now works fine, go
figure.
BTW, when is the 07 BCM for Dummies book out. Looks like I may need it to
get this thing working.

Thanks again,
Don
