Hi,

I need to create a report in Project Server that shows my resources
Roll-Off dates.

Basically similar to the Resource Usage sheet.

So when I try to create a View in Resource Center to display the Roll-
Off Dates in I add the relevant fields but the field Finish Column
that show the roll-off dates is not available to choose?

I have over 250 resources can anyone suggest what I can do to acheive
this report? I will be running this report fortnightly.

Regards,

Richard

When you refer to the Finish date as the "roll off" date, I presume you mean
you want to know the last day that the resource is committed to project work
in any project. If I am reading your need correctly, here's how to
accomplish what you wish:

1. Create a new custom Assignment view and name it something like "Resource
Rolloff Date."
2. In the Fields section of View definition, add the following columns and
display them in this exact order:

Task Name
Start
Finish
Project
Resource Name

3. In the Grouping Format section, select the Views grouping.
4. In the Default Group section, set Group By to Resource Name, and set
Then By to Project.
5. In the Outline Levels section, select Outline Level 2.
6. In the Categories section, select at least one Category, such as My
Organization and/or My Resources.
7. Save the new custom Assignment view.

Navigate to the Resource Center page and click the View Resource Assignment
link in the sidepane. Select your new custom Resource Rolloff Date view
from the pick list selector in the upper right corner. From the list of
resources shown, select 85 or so resources and add them to the list on the
right and then click the Apply button. Click the "Save Link" button and
save this custom View and resource list using a name like "Rolloff Group1"
or something like that.

Click the Remove All button and then click the Apply button (do NOT skip
this step). Now, select another group of 85 or so resources, click the
Apply button, and then click the Save Link button again. Name this custom
View and resource list something like "Rolloff Group2" or something like
that.

Repeat the steps in the previous paragraph to create a third group of
resources, click the Apply button, and then save another link with a name
like "Rolloff Group3" or something like that.

From this point forward, you can navigate to each of these three custom
View/resource list combinations from the Resource Center page by clicking
the name of the Link from the Saved Links list at the top of the sidepane.
Hope this helps.

Hi Dale,

Thanks for the help. I've created a similar view such as you
described above. The only problem is the fields [Start] and [Finish]
do not appear in the available fields to select from. These fields
contain the start and finish dates for the resources. The only other
fields that appear are [Start1]...[Start10] and [Finish1] to
[Finish10]. I've tried adding these fields but they don't contain any
data in it. I have also checked the columns by adding them to a
workplan and seeing what is contained and they hold no data.

My question is how do I make the [Start] and [Finish] dates appear in
the available fields to select from when creating a Resource Center
View?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Richard

You CANNOT do this from a Resource Center view. That is why I told you to
create a new Assignment view for this purpose. To create an Assignment
view, complete the following steps:

1. Click Admin - Manage Views
2. Click the Add View button
3. Select the Assignment option at the top of the page
4. Create the View according to the steps I detailed in my last post.

If you create an Assignment view, you can include the Start and Finish
fields. If you insist on creating a Resource Center view, you cannot
include those fields. Hope this helps.
