Creating sequential serial numbers in Word 2003

Hello,

Does anyone know if there is a way of creating sequential serial numbers in
Word?

What I want to do is to print a series of say 100 pages. Each page should
contain 3 (eg 2001, 2002 and 2003), or more, sequential serial numbers on
each page, and on the next following page would have another 3 (eg 2004,
2005 and 2006), or more, serial numbers, and so on, for the number of pages
that are printed in the series.

Example: Page 1 1001
1002
1003
Page 2 1004
1005
1006
Page 3 1007
1008
1009
Etc

Any ideas, or solutions, to my problem would be warmly welcome.

Best regards,

Sounds to me like a "catalog" or "directory" merge using a series of numbers
in Excel would do what you want. You'd need to set it up such that only the
requisite number of records was printed on each page. This might be easier
with a "label" merge type, using three large "labels" per page.

You could also use SEQ fields. The first will look like this { SEQ Serials
\r1000 } and all subsequent ones will look like this: { SEQ Serials }.
'Serials' is an arbitrary name -- use any name you like.

Suzanne and Jezebel,

Thank you both for for your suggestions. I will test you suggestions
soonest, and will also report back on the outcome.

Hi Jezebel

I need to print a one-page document 500 times, and number them 1-500. Is
there an idiot's guide to setting up this type of task?

Many thanks

John
