Creating Tasks for Team Members creates a generic task assignments

Using Project Professional 2003, I create tasks and subtasks for various
resources. I publish to the PMServer 2003 and confirm the view with
PWA-2003. When the resource logs in with PWA, they see the subtasks with the
label assignment but does not see the actual task as I entered it. How do I
correct this?

I am having a very difficult time understanding what you are describing.
Correct me if I am wrong about the following assumptions:

1. In your Microsoft Project 2003 plan, you create summary tasks and
subtasks
2. You build your project team from resources in the Enterprise Resource
Pool using Tools - Build Team from Enterprise.
3. You assign team members to these tasks, and publish the project using
Collaborate - Publish - All Information.
4. Your team members in that project navigate to the View My Tasks page in
PWA, can see the subtasks, but cannot see the summary tasks.

Is this correct? If so, your team members should do the following:

1. Navigate to the View My Tasks page in PWA.
2. Click the View Options tab.
3. Select the "Show summary tasks" option.
4. Select the "Show scheduled work" option.
5. Click the View Options tab again to collapse the pane.

Let us know if this helps.

Dale, sorry about the unclarity in my problem. You did an excellent job
reading between the lines and that's exactly how I created these tasks. Your
suggestion really cleaned things up on our end specifically with the
recurring tasks. However, maybe the following will help a little better.
Within Project Professional I created the following:

Top level task: Budget Process
Sub task: Invoicing
Sub Task of Invoicing: Reconcile
Sub Task of Invoicing: Approval

After saving & publishing, I use PWA to use the Time Sheet view. In Project
View within PWA I see the top task and all sub tasks. When I go to Task View
within PWA I see:

Top level task: Budget Process
Sub task: Invoicing
Sub Task of Invoicing: Invoicing (assignment)

and thats it. I don't see Reconcile and Approval.

Here's my disconnect with the information you have given so far: Are you
seeing all of the summary tasks and their subtasks on the View My Tasks
page? If so, please state that expressly, including the correct name of the
page.

When you say "I go to the Task View in PWA," where in PWA are you going?
The View My Tasks page? A detailed Project view in PWA, accessed by
clicking the name of a project in the Project Center page? Where? Let us
know and we will try to help.

I believe the problem may be that when you are viewing the tasks has the
filter turn on to show only CURRENT, which only shows task in a 10 working
day window. Check this filter options and make sure the filter is set to ALL.
