Creating the background for a template

Hi,

Well i've been looking all over the internet for either tutorials or how
to's on creating background images for a template.
An example of what i'm trying to accomplish is if you go on OneNote 2007,
you will see under Template / Academics / the template style named "Simple
Lecture Notes"
See how the computer is behind the writing, and the image in front of the
template is fadded. Well i want to know how to create this look, the
background being a solid image, with a faded image in front of it so that the
writing part doesn't look almost blended into the image. Any sugestions on
how to do this would be great.
If you know of any tutorials that are online, that would be great to.

try adding the image you want in the location you want, then right clicking
and selecting "Set as background."
